Early Morning, High Tide

Painted in oil on location on Smith Island, Maryland in September, 2021. When the tide is high, the water covers the road going out to Rhodes Point. While scouting for a spot early one morning, I saw these old houses sitting alone on the roadside catching the brilliant morning light, the only sounds were made by a murder of crows and a distant crab boat collecting pots. The tidewater reflecting the sky served as a perfect pathway to lead the viewer's eye to the lit-up houses.
