Beach Reflections, Distant Storm

Beach Reflections, Distant Storm,is the product of a paint along lesson with my student, Angie. I find teaching reinforces what I know to do as an artist. There’s a lot going on in this painting and it is easy to lose track of the main event. I altered my reference by adding the storm, along with several enhancements. The storm is to the north of Folly. Are we next? I wanted to capture the majestic weather, always changing, never ending. I also wanted to make the water breathe with life, somehow. The reflections create a feeling of continuity.
