Twixt Air and Angels

Twixt Air and Angels, Nocturne, Sunrise, Sunset
Twixt Air and Angels
This piece is the first in a new series I plan to do called Riffing on Donne. While not an exact interpretation of John Donne's poem, (I know there is more to the line than is in my title) the spirit of the sonnet lives in the doe. She tentatively moves into the meadow under the light of a new morning, courting danger with a cautious vulnerability. It is a reflection on how we live our lives, both in the choices we make and on those with whom we find ourselves and the spiritual aspects of those relationships.

Honestly, the song that I could not get out of my head while painting was Jethro Tull's "Skating Away on the Thin Ice of New Day."
