Pointe Bridge afternoon

Pointe Bridge afternoon, Plein Air Work ONLY
Pointe Bridge afternoon
The Pointe Bridge is in a popular park, so this small oil was created while seated in the passenger seat of my pickup, There was enough room to work with the canvas in the paint box lid, and I was able to listen to the radio without any distractions from passersby. Fortunately, there is a parking area with this view. The site is well known to me- if you notice the sign in the bridge gable, it's one that I made and installed identifying it as the "Pointe Bridge". Being familiar with the site and structure made it practical as a plein air piece, and the low angle September sun gave me a fairly steady and dramatic light source while working. Underpainting the canvas with umber in advance also helped speed the process by preventing unwanted white reveals.
