Milkweed and Bittersweet is soft pastel on sanded pastel paper, UArt 400. I begin with a quick sketch, followed by a loose underpainting using pastel and 91% isopropyl alcohol. Once the underpainting was dry I created the finished top layer, working dark to light and big to small. The scene is of a field at my local Audubon Center on a rather overcast October afternoon.
