Afternoon Light on a Little Brook Fall

Afternoon Light on a Little Brook Fall, Plein Air Work ONLY
Afternoon Light on a Little Brook Fall
This gem of a spot is along our little brook on our property in the Adirondacks. I walk this trail daily and am constantly inspired to paint all the different lighting and seasonal colors this spot offers at different times of the day. This happened to be a Spring afternoon and the greens of the newly formed leaves seemed to glow with the sun shining through. The bubbling of the brook seemed to be creating its own little song. Considering the atmosphere with Covid in the world, nature just has a way of cheering my soul and reminding me of the beauty surrounding us. I really wanted to capture that cheerful feeling. I painted with Liquitex Acrylics on gessoed panel. I had so many bugs around me (if you know Spring time in the Adirondacks, you know the blackflies, and they love me), and I thought the acrylics would work well in a quick pace and, honestly, incase I had to run away from the bugs, I didn't want to drop the painting and ruin it.
