Tranquility

I painted this during the 2021 Adirondack Plein Air Festival from a small boat launch on Second Pond in Saranac Lake, NY. There was a storm coming, but the waters were so calm, I wanted to share the mood of the tranquil waters and the quiet stillness of the leaning tree's reflections before the wind and rain came through a couple of hours later. The scene just had a sense of calm that I hoped to capture. I painted with Gamblin oil paints on a gessoed panel right at the edge of the water.
